Synopsis

After a plane crash caused by a solar coronal mass ejection, Sara, Spencer, and Melody wake up to find themselves the only survivors for hundreds of miles. As the Aurora Borealis covers the entire northern hemisphere, the group is plagued by visions of moving tattoos, demonic attacks, and surges of power they have never seen before. Not knowing what is real and what is in their minds, the survivors seek to find answers in a group of mysterious newfound friends. Except these friends aren’t normal. In fact, they aren’t even human. Not to mention the Aurora Borealis looming over the city's atmosphere is a gateway ushering in angels and demons to roam the Earth. Trapped in the middle of a supernatural war that is tearing every inch of the world apart, Spencer, Sara, and Melody learn that a small boy, Trevor, might hold the key to survival or defeat. With demons quick on their heels, the group races against time to be the first to locate the missing boy whose own awakening could be Earth's salvation. The question is, will they reach him before the heavenly gate closes?

Review

This was a great story that kept me turning the pages. I loved each character's journey and how they all ebbed in and out of each other's lives. My biggest complaint is that I felt like the story was all telling with little showing. The battle of good vs. evil in this magical little world had the potential to suck me in so much more.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone who wants a simple, magical read without a complicated fantasy world.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the eARC of this book.
